Kościelecki Square will undergo deconcretization.

The reconstruction of Kościelecki Square will begin in the summer. In the new version, there will be more greenery in this place than currently.

The square obtained its current form in the mid-70s when the bus station was moved to Jagiellońska Street. The previous reconstruction involved creating rectangular fields covered with greenery, separated by paths and concrete walls.

A few years ago, the City Hall planned to rebuild the square, with the main theme being the removal of concrete structures. However, the investment was uncertain as potential contractors proposed prices significantly exceeding the planned budget of 5.5 million PLN. Meanwhile, construction bids ranged around 15 million PLN.

After difficult negotiations, a compromise was finally reached at the level of 9.2 million PLN.

In this situation, construction can start as early as this summer. As part of the renovation, the concrete structures will be demolished, increasing the biologically active area, and the paved paths crossing the green area will be replaced with gravel. The surrounding sidewalks will receive an elegant, granite surface. The chestnut trees that have been growing in the square since the early 20th century will remain in place.

The implementation of the investment will take about a year.
