Biskupin – a journey to prehistory
We can start our adventure by visiting Biskupin. It is one of the most important archaeological sites in our country. It is a reconstruction of an ancient Lusatian culture settlement from the Iron Age. Over 250 reconstructed buildings reveal the mysteries of life and culture from over 2500 years ago. Walking among the wooden houses and defensive walls, you can travel back in time and feel the atmosphere of ancient times. In these mentioned houses, you can also find ancient artifacts that you won’t see anywhere else.
Medieval sights of Chełmno
Another fascinating place worth visiting is Chełmno. This charming town located on hills above the Vistula River is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Poland. While strolling through its narrow streets, you can admire historic tenement houses, defensive walls, and Gothic churches. It is also worth tasting the famous Chełmno gingerbreads, whose recipe dates back to the Middle Ages.
King Popiel’s Tower
You cannot miss Kruszwica during your journey. This legendary capital of Poland is a tourist attraction for visitors from all over the country. Here you will find the Tower of Popiel, which according to legend was the place where King Popiel was eaten by mice. Hence its proud and recognizable name – Mice Tower. This charming place is famous for its picturesque aqueduct, which is an extraordinary attraction. You can also visit the pools here, where you can refresh yourself during hot summers. Golub Castle
Last but not least, on this list is Golub-Dobrzyń Castle. This medieval fortress is famous for its rich history and beautiful architecture.
